A fine bronze group on a sienna marble base.
Haase-Ilsenburg added this striking bronze depicting a last farewell of mother to daughter to his genre work in 1905. He specialised in allegorical pieces focusing on historical and romantic tales. He came to the notice of the art community after exhibiting works at the Grande Exposition in Berlin (1903). Other works include Europa (1907, Galatea (1909, Daphne (1910).
The present example of this work is finely executed, retaining original dark brown patination. It is raised on an attractive yellow marble plinth with gilded guard at base.
